First off, thanks again to Lady Rose from Entrecard Favorites for presenting me with a trophy this week. She has a great website that awards trophy’s to bloggers every week and I was lucky enough to receive one. If you would like to read her post about my site, you can visit it here.

Anyways, I must say that blogging is something that indeed takes time to conquer. It is not something you decide to start one day and instantly overnight you are well known across the internet. There are millions of bloggers across the world and it takes quite a bit of research to actually start getting noticed by the Blogosphere.

When I first started, I was overwhelmed by the amount of things that going into blogging. There are so many platforms available such as Blogger and Wordpress and these alone have a large learning curve. From there, you must learn about all the “widgets” and plug-ins that are available to make your life easier.

If that is not enough, you then have to know what to write, when to write it, and how to write it. Keywords become important if you are looking to gain traffic from search engines such as Google.

And last but not least, traffic. This is the most important step in the entire process. If you write the best posts in the world but no one sees them, your time is wasted. This is where social networking becomes a large factor. This alone can be overwhelming since there are so many sites out there such as Digg, StumbleUpon, and Technorati to name a few.

Learning how to utilize these networks is very crucial. I will admit, when I first started I had no idea what to do. I made some mistakes. especially when it comes to Sphinn. I submitted my own content, and I got nailed for it. SEOHack, over at the Worst SEO Blog Ever, really ripped me apart for it. But how did I respond?

Well, I took it as best as I could. I put a band-aide on and stopped crying. I commented on his post and said that I was stupid for doing what I did, and took is as best as I could.

On the internet, most people seem to just get pissed off at one another and this leads to all sorts of flaming (making fun of). So I figured why not just take it like a man, admit my mistakes, and move on like it never happened.

Luckily for me, he later posted “A Lesson From That Justin Guy.” He still dislikes the sunglasses but hey, I can’t win every battle. So just a word of advice, don’t let what others say get you down. Just keep doing your best and good things will happen. If you make mistakes along the way, admit you were wrong and do it differently next time.

So as you can see, blogging has it’s ups and downs. But if you stick with it long enough, eventually good things will happen and more people will start to notice you and what you have to say.
