My Journey to the Moon
March 20, 2008 by Justin
The space shuttle took off from somewhere in the United States, but I am not sure where. It sort of looked like Florida but I could be wrong. Anyways, once the shuttle took off I was shocked at the amount of power it really has. Before you know it, we were already breaking out of the Earth’s atmosphere.
From this point on, I was about as scared as anyone could ever be. Nothing surrounded us but black sky and stars as far as you could see. We sure aren’t in Kansas anymore., is all I am thinking to myself.
It sure took a long time, but we eventually approached the moon and started to slow down. The descend onto the moon’s service was a little shaky, and more than once I had to reach for the “sickness” bag that reminded me of being on an airplane.
Boom! We finally touched down on the moon. It was one long ass journey, I am not even sure how long it took. It could of been 3 hours, or 3 days for all I know, but it was definitely long. The door to the shuttle opened and I was immediately blown away by the brightness and look the moon gave off. It was nothing like I had seen on Earth.
And here it comes, my first foot touches the surface as I hop out of the shuttle. It sort of reminded me of standing in the desert at night, only the surroundings are much different. The lack of gravity reminds me we are no where near Earth. I can literally jump 6 feet in the air like it is nothing. I sure could of used these hops back in high school basketball.
Then it happened, I turned around and saw planet Earth. I immediately felt a great sense of anxiety. For some reason, thinking about space has always made me feel anxious, most likely because there is so much out their we will never know about. But when you see Earth for the first time, and you are not standing on it, it creates a feeling I have never felt before.
I just want to go home, is all I am thinking in my head. So what do I do? I started flying!
You read that right, I started jumping through space in a weird flying motion. I was hoping around debris and garbage and flying through space like I was some sort of rocket man. It only took me like 30 minutes to hop my way back into the Earth’s atmosphere. Ahhh! Where am I going to land? I know, I will land in my parents backyard, that way the worst case scenario is landing in the lake.
Out of nowhere, the trip ends, and all I hear this damn buzzing sound. Son of a…it’s that alarm clock going off at 7:16 am again. Levi, did you really have to invent that thing?
Well that was one heck of a dream. I sure wish I knew what the heck that was supposed to mean. Going to the moon is not exactly something I have ever thought about, so why in the heck am I dreaming about it.
Anyone else ever have crazy dreams like this? Please feel free to comment, otherwise I might just consider myself crazy.
