30 Days on DVD…Plus A Free Give-Away!

July 1, 2008 by Justin

There are not many shows these days that I actually like watching on TV. But one I do like watching is “30 Days“, which is hosted my Morgan Spurlock from the movie, “Supersize Me.”

What Is It About?

If you are not familiar with the show, here is a quick synopsis:

“The intelligent and innovative TV show that dares to ask: Do we really know what it’s like to see the world through our neighbors’ eyes?”

“30 Days features a diverse group of participants, each given the opportunity to experience first-hand a world antithetical to their own, comfortable existence. Each episode examines a very different subject and is hosted by Morgan Spurlock. In the final episode, Spurlock is also a participant as he turns the camera on himself. “

Why I Like the Show

I love this show because it encourages people to see things from different perspectives. No one really knows what it is like to see something from someone else’s point of view.

It really forces you to have an open mind and I like that. There are not enough people in this world that have an open mind to new things and concepts. Just because you were raised one way doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try viewing things from other angles.

The show also makes it clear on hard it is for people in certain circumstances. When I saw the episode about living on minimum wage, it really made me think. It would be hard to live that way and the show makes it very clear.

It made me realize that my situation is far better than a lot of unfortunate people. I am grateful for everything I have in my life and need to keep focus on that.

Now For the Give-Away!

As a way of kicking of July and saying thanks to my readers, I will be holding a contest on this post. The stakes are very simple and every person that comments (with a meaningful comment) on this post has a chance at winning. 5 People will be winners!

Let me be the first to comment! I love this show as well, especially the immigration one I saw not to long ago.

I like this show a lot. I just watched the one with the PETA family and the small calf like a week ago. It was really eye opening to see what farms do to some animals.

I thought Supersize me was great, and I would love to see the rest of the stuff he has done. It makes you think! I didn’t use to like the documentary type shows, but now I watch many different kinds.

Hmm I’ve never heard of this show but it sounds good. It’s a really good idea and if I don’t win the DVDs I’ll have to find a way to check out a show or two.

Spurlock produces great material so it’s a wonder to me why I haven’t heard of this series before. You’d think stations would broadcast this kind of work instead of “The Mole”! If TV looked more like this, I’d watch it!

It is nice to see the feedback, I hope to see more comments come in tonight.

If not, it looks like you might all be winners ;)

I was googling something totally unrelated (low-stress careers) and managed to find your site and this post. I have been a large fan of 30 Days since the first season. But it always amazes me how many people have never heard of it. I think it is because it airs on cable which a lot of people do not have.

Anyways, keep up the good work!

I’ve never heard of “30 Days”, but I loved “Supersize Me.” It’s a struggle to push yourself out of your comfort zone to experience something new, but it’s usually such an energizing and wonderful thing in the end. I’m adding this show to my list of things to watch!

I think if you take a lot of peoples salary minus credit card bills and/or child support, student loan payment, etc, I bet a HUGE percentage of people are making minimum wage or less.

They just had a little more fun before they became minimum wagers :) And how did you come across 5 copies of the complete season?

I love “30 Days”. My only disappointment in the series has been the binge drinking episode. It just seemed out of place. My favorites have to be the wheel chair episode (recently aired) and the gay-straight one. If I had to suggest one it would be to have one live as a different ethnicity for 30 days. Or have a rich person live poor for 30 days. I know Morgan and his wife or gf did the minimum wage, but I mean really take someone who is mega rich and have them live with a very poor family.

Take care! Just stumbled (literally) on your blog today!

I just saw the show for the first time last week (or it might have been the week before) but they had a deer hunter from somewhere in the deep south live w/ a family who are all vegans and most of whom work for PETA - it was a really interesting twist and a good eye-opener on the inhumane meat/animal cruelty industry.

Sweet ass sweet! Can’t wait to watch the show, thanks for the amazing contest. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a contest where it’s a coinflip to win something cool :)
