It’s All About The Readers
Any blogger knows, the readers are what make everything. Without them, you are stuck writing posts that never get any feedback. This can make it especially tough when starting out in the blogosphere.
So I got to thinking this morning and realized that I hardly know anything about my readers. Don’t get be wrong, I try to learn as much about all of you by following up with your comments and visiting your blogs. But still, I have only grown to know a few of you personally.
Therefore, I have decided to ask you, the readers, some questions. I hope that you take the time to leave a comment and answer the questions. I think it will be a great way to introduce yourself, not only to me but to all of my other readers.
You will automatically get a backlink (this blog is dofollow) to your site which can never hurt. If enough people link to this post, you might even get some pagerank passed on to your blog (let’s hope).
And now for the questions:
1. What Is Your Name and Age?
2. Where Do You Live?
3. What Is Your Blog About?
Last week, I made the post Life After The Cubicle. In it, introduced a new series I will be running here on Life of Justin.
After a few adjustments, I have finally figured out the details on how it is going to work.
A One Of A Kind Series
Life After The Cubicle is a newsletter series documenting my journey to make a living online and travel the world. Along the way, I hope to write a book about the whole thing.
Each “episode” will contain stories, pictures, videos, and any other type of media that can be delivered electronically. Who knows, we might even ship something to your door (just kidding).
Not only will the series document my journey, but it will also offer useful tips and information to help others succeed at quitting their office jobs. No longer do we need to settle for sitting in a cube all day.
5 Questions You Should Ask Yourself
Blogging is a fun and creative hobby. However, authors usually spend more time than they expect running their blogs. It can be very time consuming, especially in the beginning stages. It takes a lot of dedication, and more importantly, patience. Here are 5 questions to ask yourself before you make the jump into blogging.
1. Do You Have The Passion?
Running a blog takes hard work, dedication, and more importantly passion. You have to be passionate about what your doing or you will never success.
Any follower of this blog knows, that over the last year I have had some struggles with office jobs. I have wanted nothing more than to leave my cubicle job to get out and actually do something with my life. Luckily, I managed to build enough courage and motivation last week to give my notice and start pursing a full-time career as a blogger.
With all of that said, I wanted to share a story very similar to mine. A few days ago, I received an email from Dereck Coatney. He is a blogger that shares the same visions as myself when it comes to jobs and life in general. So here is his story…
Cubicle Unhappy to Biking Expedition
Also known as C.U.B.E., is the name of Dereck’s expedition. Check out this page to see some YouTube videos he created for the journey. He also did an interview over at LifeReboot.com that really explains the details of what it is that he wants to do.
I hope everyone had a good weekend. I managed to get drunk, watch football, rip my blog theme apart, and completely rebuild most of it from the beginning up. I guess it was a pretty constructive weekend…
What’s New With the Theme?
Believe it or not, the entire theme itself is different. After hours on end of looking at php and css code, I managed to make it look VERY close to the old theme.
The first major difference is that the sidebar has been cleaned up and simplified. I wanted to incorporate a E-mail form so people can subscribe to receive updates, tips, and awesome information about anything I can think of. I even squeezed in links to all of my social network profiles.
I also added some new features to the homepage such as the Popular Posts section at the top. I wanted a way to showcase some of my best posts at the top along with some awesome pictures. Continue reading
