A New Journey Starts Today

Today is officially the first day of the rest of my life. I am finally free of the cubicle and all the crap that goes along with it. I no longer have to be the “tech” guy that everyone comes to for problems and stupid questions. Office politics are a thing of the past. Instead, I can focus on blogging and making it a full-time job.

Taking A Look Back

I couldn’t help but spend some time this morning looking back at some of my old posts. Any avid reader of this blog knows that I used to blog about my job constantly. Just take a look at the jobs category and you can check some of my older posts out.

My personal evaluation really summed up how I felt at the time. And lets not forget the ways I tried to get fired. That post was written almost five months ago. It really surprises me how I managed to stay there as long as I did.

News From the Weekend

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I managed to get drunk, watch football, rip my blog theme apart, and completely rebuild most of it from the beginning up. I guess it was a pretty constructive weekend…

What’s New With the Theme?

Believe it or not, the entire theme itself is different. After hours on end of looking at php and css code, I managed to make it look VERY close to the old theme.

The first major difference is that the sidebar has been cleaned up and simplified. I wanted to incorporate a E-mail form so people can subscribe to receive updates, tips, and awesome information about anything I can think of. I even squeezed in links to all of my social network profiles.

I also added some new features to the homepage such as the Popular Posts section at the top. I wanted a way to showcase some of my best posts at the top along with some awesome pictures.

When Technical Support Has Computer Issues

Who Are We Going To Call?

So my computer once again had a meltdown, and it is all f%$#ed up. So I thought I would share my routine of what happens when I have problems. Many people never really know what happens when someone from the help desk has a computer problem. Who do we ask for help? Who do we send a support ticket to? I’ll break down the five steps we (or at least I) take to resolve computer issues:

1. We Try Everything Google Tells Us To Do

I googled a bunch of different phrases and found a bunch of different solutions. Of course, none of them helped me in any way, shape, or form.

The Benefits of Dual Monitors

Every once in awhile, something happens at work that gives me a little joy.A little hope that maybe some better and more exciting days will come. It does not happen very often, but it does happen on occasion. And today just happens to be one of those days.

What Happened You Say?

Well, I was given another monitor to use at my desk by my boss. I have been using one since I started this job, which can be a real pain when you have 100 different windows open all the time. So I am writing this post with two displays, woo hoo!

Apparently, having dual displays can gelp me get “more work done.” Or at least that is what I was told. Honestly, I would rather just hire another employee to help me instead of getting another monitor. But it isn’t my call so I will take what I can get. I have quickly adapted to this dual monitor thing and have already increased my productivity. Check out a screen shot of me working on two projects at the same time:

Office Politics: I Hate Them

So I came in to work this morning only to realize that my profile reset on my computer. It’s a pain in the ass when this happens. So rather than wasting my time fixing it when I really could care less, I jumped over to the internet and away I went.

I ended up watching this video from The Onion:

Study Finds Youths Don’t Follow Office Politics

I Could Not Agree More

I think the whole idea of “office politics” is hilarious. Honestly, who gives a sh%t what happens at the office. If so and so used to date the guy in accounting, don’t tell me about it. Let me sit in my cubicle and surf the internet in privacy.
