Map Out Blog Posts With Google Maps

A few days ago, I was looking something up on Google maps and found the ability to create custom maps. I had heard of the option before, but never took the time to screw around with it. After playing around with it, I managed to find a real cool thing you can do with it for your blog. Check it out!

View Blog Posts Based On Location

Basically, you can click on any destination and it will show some of the posts I have placed in the menu. All I did was map out a bunch of destinations and then added in some blog post links. An hour later I had all of my posts related to travel mapped out.

Embed A Map

The coolest part of all is the ability to embed the map on any webpage. It even lets you customize the size of the window. I created a 300 x 250 pixel map and placed it in my sidebar to see how it works out. So far, I think it looks pretty cool and I haven’t noticed any slowness from it loading on every page.

Create Your Own

To create your own map, just head over to Google Maps and click on the “My Maps” link. Make sure you are signed in to your Google account otherwise it may not give you the option of creating a map.

Pretty cool huh? What do you think of it?

  5. Google Maps is one crazy application. I haven’t fooled around with it much, but if it can link blog posts to physical locations, that is just amazing.
