Life of Justin: Greatest Hits

greatesthitsOne thing I have never done here on Life of Justin is put together a list of my favorite posts of all time. In other words, a greatest hits album without any music (or album for that matter).

So last night I took a long look at my archives page and went through all the posts I have written over the years.

It took awhile…that’s for sure. I’ve written a lot more posts than I thought. It’s amazing how my writing skills have changed with time. My earlier posts were pretty bad.

Anyways, I managed to come up with a list of my favorite posts of all time. I chose these posts by hand without looking at any stats or comments. These…

The Power Of A Notebook

If I were to tell you about a cutting edge tool that will make your blog (and life) better, you would probably want to learn more about it. Am I right? I thought so. However, if I told you that this cutting edge tool was a notebook, you would probably call me crazy. That’s right, a plain ol’ spiral notebook with real paper in it.

It’s true that of all the tools I have utilized in my life, nothing has been more beneficial than a notebook. It’s the once place I can write down whatever I want, whenever I want. I constantly write down thoughts and ideas that I want to remember later on.

A New Journey Starts Today

October 17 2008
by Justin Wright

Today is officially the first day of the rest of my life. I am finally free of the cubicle and all the crap that goes along with it. I no longer have to be the “tech” guy that everyone comes to for problems and stupid questions. Office politics are a thing of the past. Instead, I can focus on blogging and making it a full-time job.

Taking A Look Back

I couldn’t help but spend some time this morning looking back at some of my old posts. Any avid reader of this blog knows that I used to blog about my job constantly. Just take a look at the jobs category and you can check some of my older posts out.

My personal evaluation really summed up how I felt at the time. And lets not forget the ways I tried to get fired. That post was written almost five months ago. It really surprises me how I managed to stay there as long as I did.

News From the Weekend

September 29 2008
by Justin Wright

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I managed to get drunk, watch football, rip my blog theme apart, and completely rebuild most of it from the beginning up. I guess it was a pretty constructive weekend…

What’s New With the Theme?

Believe it or not, the entire theme itself is different. After hours on end of looking at php and css code, I managed to make it look VERY close to the old theme.

The first major difference is that the sidebar has been cleaned up and simplified. I wanted to incorporate a E-mail form so people can subscribe to receive updates, tips, and awesome information about anything I can think of. I even squeezed in links to all of my social network profiles.

I also added some new features to the homepage such as the Popular Posts section at the top. I wanted a way to showcase some of my best posts at the top along with some awesome pictures.

Five Things That Keep Me Going

People often send me E-mails or ask me in person why I blog? Is it for the money, the fame, the non-existent fortune? Well, I really wanted to sit down and think about it.

The Freedom To Express Myself

By far the most important thing I get out of this blog, is the ability to express myself. I find myself to be an unsual, creative, and funny (once in a great while) type of person. I love to write about topics that people can relate to. More importantly, I really enjoy writing about things others want to say, but keep to themselves. Writing about my office job, believe it or not, has reminded me that a lot of people are in the same situation. Therefore, I love to write funny things I do to help cheer everyone else up that is stuck sitting in there small, scary, cubicle.

Immigration, English and the Drive-Thru

Why It’s so Hard to Get My Order Right

Living in Arizona means living with a large population of immigrants. Especially Mexican immigrants. Now I have no problems whatsoever with people coming over here to improve their quality of life and to send money home to their family every month. I think that is one of the noblest things a person can do, risk everything of themselves to provide for the ones they love. I don’t even have a problem with the ones who come over here illegally.

America doesn’t make it very easy to receive green cards, and some people cannot wait through the entire application process before coming over. To the people who can make it over here safely, good for you. Welcome to America!

The Problem

The one thing I do have a problem with is the fact that people who immigrate to the US and take jobs where their main duty is to talk to other people and they do not speak or comprehend much English. Maybe my bigger problem is with the people who hire them to work at the counter, or work the drive thru, answer the phones, or anything else that requires spoken English and comprehension.

Living A Happy Life

After disappearing for a few days, I am finally back. I have been really busy the last couple days entertaining friends, drinking, cleaning, and just sorting out my future plans.

Anyways, I have decided I need to change the attitude of this blog. I realized most of my posts are nothing but me complaining about my job. Don’t get me wrong, I dislike my job a lot. But I am never going to get anywhere by complaining about it constantly.

I may sound like a pissed off person, but I am actually a happy person 99% of the time. I have a positive outlook on life and can usually cheer anyone up when I talk to them.

I am a big…

10 Questions to Ask Yourself Now!

May 1 2008
by Justin Wright

Tags: ,

Today I stumbled across a post at FrugalMarketing.com, that talked about 10 questions to ask yourself. I thought these were some very important questions that I needed to answer for my own. So here are my answers to some very important questions:

1.) If you could do anything you want to tomorrow, what would it be?

I would go somewhere quiet and take some time to myself to just clear my mind. It is hard to keep your head straight when there is so many things going on in life all the time.

2.) What are your core values?

Here’s five I think best describe me as a person:

Challenge – I love to take on challenges because they help make me a…
