A Structure Near The Beach

A Structure Near The Beach

As I mentioned yesterday, my girlfriend and I decided to stay at a Venice Beach Hostel. Today I wanted to do a post about Venice Beach itself and what it’s all about.

The beach is pretty popular and is located just south of Santa Monica. It’s about 30 minutes from Los Angeles on a good driving day (do they really exists?).

Anyways, here is a breakdown of some of the things Venice Beach had to offer:

The Beach

The actual beach in Venice is really nice. It’s really big in terms of sand, as opposed to smaller beaches like Waikiki in Hawaii. There was some construction going on near our hostel so a lot of it was blocked…

Headin’ Out Californee Way…

March 6 2009
by Justin Wright

I Hope To Touch It This Time :)

I Might Attempt To Hike Up There

Might be some internet out there…

Haha one of my favorite episodes of South Park (preview). Anyways, I decided it’s time to take advantage of the digital nomad lifestyle and head somewhere else for a bit.

So myself, along with my partner in crime (girlfriend) are packing up ours bags today to head off to California. We figured we might as well head out there one last time before we move to Austin in May. It’s a lot shorter of a drive.

The first stop is going to be San Diego for a bit. Then it’s off to Los Angeles for a few nights.

Here is a quick breakdown of the trip and what we plan…

A Few Pictures From Tucson

A Biker Getting Owned...

A Biker Getting Owned…

It’s been awhile since I posted a travel story so I thought I would write about my latest trip.

A few days ago I took a trip down to Tucson to do some hiking. After I got their I found out that the hike was sort of lame. Considering they had tram rides for people that didn’t feel like walking for 8 bucks. Nothing makes the wilderness more enjoyable than audio guided tours driving right past you. Not to mention there were bathrooms everywhere and power lines running near the trail. My girlfriend and I ended up walking 5 miles down a paved road. Not exactly “hiking.”

The good news is I managed to snap a few…

Trip To The Grand Canyon And Flagstaff

February 6 2009
by Justin Wright

This past weekend my girlfriend and I made another road trip up north. We went up there expecting to find a bunch of snow in Flagstaff and go sledding. What we found was 55 degree weather and hardly any snow. Here is a video I put together:

A Look At Austin, Texas

January 6 2009
by Justin Wright

Now that I am rested up and ready to start out the week, I thought I would go back and recap my vacation. Austin has always been a place I wanted to visit and I managed to see just about everything I wanted to see while I was there.

First Impression

When first arriving in Austin, I was pretty excited. It was nice to see grass and trees again, instead of the usual cacti and dirt. It reminded me a lot of Wisconsin, except it was 68 degrees outside in the winter. I would say that Madison, Wisconsin and Austin are very much alike in just about every aspect. A large college, the capital building, and water nearby. Very cool!

Downtown Austin

My favorite part about Austin was the downtown area. It felt much more like a big city than Phoenix. There are more tall buildings and people walking around than downtown Phoenix. It actually has some life to it.

Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico

November 5 2008
by Justin Wright

After backpacking the White Sands, it was off to the Carlsbad, New Mexico Caverns. The two and half hour drive was well worth what I managed to see inside these caves.

Arriving At The Caverns

When I arrived at the Carlsbad Caverns, I started to wonder where they actually were. We were driving through mountains and eventually ended up on top of one of them where the visitor center is located. Believe it or not, they are located directly underneath the parking lot.

Once I entered the visitor center, I was immediately bombarded with different ticket and tour options. Some cost more than others and take you to different parts of the caverns. The guided tours that take you down into the less popular caves and make you crawl sounded like the best ones but unfortunately they were closed.

Road Trip to California and Nevada

September 4 2008
by Justin Wright

Hey everyone, I finally managed to make it back here to Phoenix. If you didn’t see my last post, I took off for San Francisco last Friday. I was expecting to make the 13 hour drive but what the trip turned into was something completely different. Check out the map of the trip:

The Places I Went

As you can see from the map, I managed to see a ton of stuff on this one trip. I made it back to Hollywood, up to San Francisco, and all the way to the Redwoods of California. From there, I made it to Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Death Valley. And last but not least, through Las Vegas on the way back to Phoenix.

I managed to take over a thousand pictures which I have not even begun looking through yet.

Short Road Trip to Lake Pleasant

Lake Pleasant, Arizona

I will start by showing you the picture I managed to take overlooking the lake:

Lake Pleasant, Arizona

Lake Pleasant is about 20 miles northwest of Peoria on State Rt. 74. It is a pretty short drive to escape the city and get your feet wet. When I first arrived, I was surprised at the size of the lake, which is somewhere around 16 square miles. The water has a cool blue hint to it that reminds me of the ocean.

Things To Do

Lake Pleasant offers a lot of different things to do. Some of the things it offers include:

Parking Lot Drinking at USC

April 15 2008
by Justin Wright

Me at USCOne of the things I did while in Los Angeles was hang out at the University of Southern California. One of my roommates was originally supposed to attend a seminar their but we were not able to find it.

So what did we do instead?

Well, we walked around for a little while and took a few pictures. As we were walking back to our car on the top of a USC parking lot, a guy asked if we wanted a beer.

Of course, being who we are, we decided to accept. The next thing I know, my roommate and I are drinking tall boys of Coors Light on top of the parking ramp overlooking the courtyard they have on campus.

It…

The Roadtripperz Are Back

February 25 2008
by Justin Wright

Over the weekend, a few breakthroughs occurred. One of them involves a big Road Trip.

We went out partying again Friday and Saturday night and it is starting to get old. I think drinking is going to start fading back out for awhile. Not only is it expensive, but it really does not help you much in the long run.

The major decision that was made this weekend was that Roadtripperz.com is finally becoming a reality. We had the idea of going on a massive Road Trip around the world and blogging about it back in college. We had everything setup and we were about to set out on the journey, but then decided to move to Hawaii.

So come this June,…
