What Do Your Business Cards Say About You?
When it comes to promoting a blog or website, there is nothing better than some good ol’ fashion business cards. They give people a quick impression and provide some valuable information about who you are. However, it’s very important to take a look at your cards and ask yourself what they say about you.

Above is two new designs I had printed for my freelance website, ZoopMedia.com.
Business Cards Are An Important Tool
A business card says a lot about a person. The more unique and creative a card is, the more likely that person is unique and creative. It also gives a first impression that can last a lifetime, especially if you give it to someone you may never see in person again. That card might sit on someones desk for a long time and create an image in their head.
Even if you blog for enjoyment, I highly recommend getting some business cards. Not only can it help get you some traffic, but you never know what could come as a result of handing them out. Don’t be afraid to leave a few in random places such as coffee shops and restaurants. I have had some luck leaving them at local businesses.
So what makes a good business card? A few things. Here are a few questions you should ask yourself to ensure you make an awesome business card:
Do They Show Off Your Skills?
One of the best things about making your own business card designs, is the ability to use your skills. This is especially helpful if you work in the graphic/web design field. Nothing says more about you than a business card you created from scratch. So don’t be afraid to test the limits and come up with some cool ideas. Besides, they’re YOUR cards and you get to decide on the look.
Do They Clearly State What It Is That You Do?
Another important thing is to make sure your business cards clearly state what it is that you do (or what your good at). In the orange card above, I used clear message that “I am a blogger, writer, and all around web expert.” That way no one ever has to think twice about what it is that I do. So make sure to put a statement or title somewhere on the card that explains your overall purpose.
Do They Make You Look Unique?
More times than I can count, I get handed business cards that use the same template I have seen online. Sure, they still work better than no cards but it really takes away the impression you hope to receive with the cards. If you simply reuse a theme that a lot of other people use, you are making yourself look less attractive as a professional. So take the time to create a template of your own, it will surely pay off in the end.
Does anyone else have some good tips (or advice) on how to design some badass business cards? I would love to hear your feedback.
PS. I ordered my business cards from Vista Print and am really happy with the product. Just make sure to opt for the “premium” business cards instead of the regular ones.
